Vietnet and Viet software FTP archive

This is an anonymous FTP archive of selected information files related to Vietnet mailing list and the news group soc.culture.vietnamese. It also contains software for editing, printing, and viewing Vietnamese files. The software are for UNIX, X, Mac and MSDOS/MS Windows.

Your help will be appreciated and is greatly needed. You can help by the following methods:

Supplying Vietnamese related text files; such as poems, stories, songs, helpful information such as how to get help in the VNese community, etc.
Providing and/or let us know where to find software relating to Vietnamese language.
Help in maintaining the information in the archive stay up to date.

You can upload your files and programs to ftp.Saigon.COM. Please put it in the directory /incoming. After you have uploaded the file, send a message to [email protected] with a description of what it is you have uploaded. Do NOT upload copyrighted materials that you do not have permission to distribute.

Here is the intruction for accessing the anonymous FTP archive:

Site name: ftp.saigon.com
Login as anonymous, password is your email address.

% mkdir VN (where you'll be compiling everything)
% cd VN
% ftp ftp.saigon.com
Connected to ftp.saigon.com
220 ftp.saigon.com FTP server ready.
Name (ftp.saigon.com:): anonymous
Password (ftp.saigon.com:anonymous): < type_your_email_address >
331 Guest login ok, send ident as password.
230 Guest login ok, access restrictions apply.
ftp> cd pub/VietNam
250 CWD command successful.
ftp> image (or "binary")
200 Type set to I.
ftp> get somefile.tar.Z
ftp> quit
