adventure game outline (Designed and planned by pham ba thang )
to learn more about the history of emperor quang Trung, and to brighten the patrol spirit in teamwork competition.
- Scouts: ages 11 to 14.
- Explorers: ages 15 to 18.
total of 54 participant patrols from USA, Canada, and some scouts from australia and france joining the existing patrols.
the game is a re-enactment of history to some extent. the participants are the people of an imaginary bach hop village. the scout leaders are the village elders and the generals in emperor quang Trung's army. former dong thanh scouts who help implemeting this game are pham van Thach, la manh Hung, vuong quang Dung, and dang quoc Hung.
the game starts exactly at 7:00AM, and ends at 1:30PM.
Starting.
20 tha'ng Cha.p na(m Ma^.u Tha^n (1788)
a buffalo horn sound warns the bach hop villagers of the invaders. a message in morse code and semaphore is sent to the villagers telling the patrol leader to take his patrol to the village elders ( pham ba thang and ho Buu, a scout leader in washington metropolitan Area) at the square yellow Flag. from the elders, the patrol receives a thang tien 6 map and a key to decipher the coded message which is the picture of a colored tree on a canvas. the message tells the patrol to proceed to the bridge (highlighted on the map) on gian thuy river.
stage 1: bach hop villagers cross Gia?n Thu?y river.
at gian Thuy, a village elder ( pham van thach ) asks the patrol the three different names of quang trung Emperor, grades the villagers' costumes, and sends the patrol to the station leaders.
the station leaders collect the first message, and order the villagers proceed to the next station following the trail signs.
stage 2: ha hoi and ngoc hoi battles.
Mu`ng 3 tha'ng Gie^ng na(m Ky? Da^.u (1789)
on the trail, the villagers note down the direction signs, and find a coded message. at this station, a general ( la manh hung ) and his assistant (Tr. Nguye^~n Thi. Hue^., tru+o+?ng chi nha'nh Pha'p) collect and grade the deciphered message; the patrol is also asked for the names of this waiting station (Ha` Ho^`i & Ngo.c Ho^`i) before being sent to the main station #2.
at the main station of Ha` Ho^`i & Ngo.c Ho^`i, the generals in charge of the battles collect the note on the trail signs, examine the patrol's orienteering knowledge; they also give the patrol instructions to measure the height of the world scout flagpole and the option to pass three obstacles as a physical training before the dong da battle. the generals give the villagers the bearings to find the way to dong Da.
the qing general hua the hanh dies in this battle.
stage 3: dong da battle.
the general ( vuong quang dung ) in charge of the battle dong Da, his face blackened by smoke, gives spaghetti and aluminium tray to the villagers, and orders them to camouflage for the battle.
the patrol makes a fire in the aluminium tray (for fire safety and grass protection) to cook spaghetti to make five knots and present them to the station leader. the station leader grades the patrol's measurement of the flagpole, the knots and their camouflage, and tells the patrol to follow the nature trail to thang Long.
the qing general sam nghi dong commits suicide on dong da hill several miles from thang Long.
stage 4: victory at thang Long.

on the way to thang Long, a general ( dang quoc hung ) gives the villagers a colored coded message which is the song praising emperor quang Trung, and teaches them how to sing and dance.

the patrol continues its way to thang Long. ton si Nghi, the governor of luong Quang, runs for his life and leaves behind his official seal. entering thang Long, the patrol meets emperor quang Trung's Generals, and gets the instructions to carry a wounded soldier with broken leg and arm on a stretcher.
quang Trung's general grades the patrol's form and first aid skill, and awards ton si Nghi's official seal to the first patrol arriving thang Long.
the villagers, the generals and the village elders join together at thang Long. all patrols compete to raise the ne^u in limited time to celebrate the victory and have a late tet celebration with lion Dance.
